Day 4 in the Hospital....will we go home today?

Today is day 4 of Addison being in the hospital. Nick and I never thought that we would be here for this long with Addison. It all started on Tuesday when she woke up with a 102 fever, a bad cough & funny nose. So I took her to the doctor & we thought we were dealing with a bronchial type infection. So off we went to the pharmacy to get Addison her prescriptions filled. In the car, on the way to the pharmacy, she vomited. At the time I didn't think much of it, I just thought maybe her reflux medicine had not kick in from the morning dose. Well once we got home, she vomited again. This time it was everywhere! So I called Dr. Shelley to give him an update. He told me to put her on the B.R.A.T diet. So we started that....well by the afternoon she was pretty much refusing all liquids & BRAT foods. And continued to vomit. So we went back to see Dr. Shelley because he said that he wanted to see her back on Wednesday if she was not getting better. So on Wednesday, he checked & she was still hydrated so we were still okay...he said to continue to offer the BRAT diet. But if she continued to refuse liquids & vomit, he needed to see her back on Thursday. Well it continued....so off we went on Thursday morning to see Dr. Shelley. We knew that she was not doing well. Addison is such an active child & for her to just lay on the sofa and not move, we knew she didn't feel well. We even laid her next to Kat and she did not even try to touch her.....she always tries to "attack" the cat so another signal that she didn't feel well. On top of the vomit & refusing foods & liquids. Dr. Shelley took one look at her on Thursday and said that she did not look well. He checked her out some more & looked at me and said I hate to do this; but, I am going to have to admit her to the hospital. So off we went.....

Nick and I really thought that Addison would be admitted and get to go home the following morning. We really thought that she just needed to get some "fluids" (IV) in her. Well the nurses immediately got the IV hooked up along with all the other blood work & urine work that Dr. Shelley ordered to be done. Later that day she went for her chest scan. Well she continued to vomit. All the test came back okay. On Friday morning, Dr. Shelley came in & told us that he could not release her until she was able to keep down liquids and that was not the case yet. So he wanted to keep us another 24 hours & that the doctor on call we re-evaluate Saturday morning. He also ordered for a stomach scan to be done....(it came back okay as well). Well Addison continue to vomit and not keep down any liquids. So to speed up to today (Sunday), Dr. Kray (doctor on call his weekend) would not let us go on Saturday (still continuing to vomit on Saturday). So here we are on Sunday. He came in this morning & wants to see what happens by this afternoon. It's noon as I am writing this blog (Addison is sleep & so is Nick). She has had about 7 oz of fluids and 1 1/2 crackers.....so far so good. No vomit!!!!! I am hoping that when he calls back this afternoon that he will feel good about releasing us and that we will get to sleep in our beds tonight.
Now of course it will be fun to get Addison back on her sleeping schedule. But, I'll take it if we get to go home!!!! I took a few pictures of Addison while in the hospital. You know me, I had to document so later in life she can take a look of her stay in the hospital at 11 months.

Addison has been a trooper during this time in the hospital. She started doing this "fake" smile. I think she knew that Mommy & Daddy needed some smiles! She has given us lots of hugs & kisses!! She has given all the nurses the evil eye; but, then quickly gives them a smile (except when they were "working" on her).
